Hi, I’m Beatrice:
Multi-perspectival Researcher
What widens my eyes?
I find it deeply rewarding to witness people find unexpected, ad hoc ways to have technology service their everyday lives in the workplace, at school, and inside their homes. With this in mind, I am passionate about collecting data to amplify the experiences of marginalized people, because we have historically neglected their input. There is common-sense to this perspective. A product that falls to a default experience at the expense of an untapped diversity of users results in both social and consumer exclusion.
What is my approach?
Just as folks living on the periphery find creative means to achieve their goals regardless of the tool, I straddle the lines between an industry generalist and academic specialist and prefer to think of myself as a methodological opportunist ;-)
I prioritize analyzing data that amplifies the voice of the user to shed insights that are often overlooked for evergreen business needs and long-standing, complex issues. As a data-focused communicator, I deploy qualitative and quantitative insights to broaden perspectives at the organizational level on the diversity of people, behaviors, and values.
About Me:
I am a Senior UX Researcher at Workday.
Previously, I worked at Limeade, an employee experience and well-being company. In past career lives, I have been a Life Sciences Project Manager and a Marketing Associate for several startups.
For my doctoral research, I analyzed how incremental innovation in open-source software shapes workplace practices and cultures in Brazil. I am a past recipient for the Fulbright-Hays Fellowship and the University of Pennsylvania Predoctoral Fellowship for Excellence through Diversity.
My home base is Seattle, where I enjoy hiking, going to the sauna, and eating my daughter’s leftovers.
